JMIP-COM-TITLE

We want to make you aware of a severe need with a young people age group that is overlooked. We have seen recent reports (as of Summer 2006) on ABC’s Good Morning America how this age group is forgotten in the United States. Well think about it. In the United States, with all of our social government programs in place: city, state, federal government. Add to that all of the non-religious social oriented groups that have a multitude of programs on the street so to speak. Add to that all of the religious social programs that are out there as well. Add to that corporate and privately funded social campaigns that are working within our society .... And we still tragically MISS this age group of kids and young adults within OUR OWN COUNTRY.

Now TAKE ALL OF THAT AWAY .... ALL of the government programs, ALL of the non-religious programs, ALL of the religious programs, and ALL of the business and private programs.

What is left? What is left to support this age group of older kids and young adults? Crime and Prostitution. That is the way of life for this age group of kids in Russia today.

When people learn we are involved in orphan ministry, they often think of us holding babies or helping facilitate adoption. Though these are important and God ordained ministries, it is not the area to which we feel called at East-West. God has laid it on our hearts to minister to those who are left behind, trapped in the system.

The children gave these orphanage visits the name "Day of Joy". Hopefully the reason is obvious.

...through post-orphanage teen transitional ministry. Building tomorrow's leaders for a new Russia

Shirley and I can not physically do anything about this by ourselves. We are also reluctant to give money to some Save-the-Whatever organization either. But we have found a couple that we have personally come to know that we want to introduce to you. Robert and Ann Fuqua. We have come to know this couple personally and have “broken bread” with them many times over the last two years.

Robert and Ann Fuqua working wih young adult orphans in Russia go to http://www.fuqua.eastwest.org

They belong to an organization called East-West Ministries International. This “empty nester” couple has made a commitment to dedicate their lives to helping this desperate age group of older kids and young adults in the country of Russia.

We have placed this page on our web site so that hopefully you will investigate this couple and their work. We also hope that no matter your religious persuasion, you will see beyond that to what this couple is doing for these kids physically and mentally. If you have given to a social cause before, then in my opinion the work that the Fuqua’s are doing is equally worthy of the same support. If you have given to causes that also support the same religious values that the Fuqua’s hold, then of course their work is also equal to the same support.

Shirley and I know first hand how hard it is raising kids through the teen years in our own country. We could not imagine how hard it would be if the entire support net of a child was taken away to see what the outcome would be.

We encourage you to go to Robert and Ann’s web site and investigate their work. We hope you would join us in our decision to help them be OUR hands and OUR feet in turn helping these kids with a chance at life.
